Coromandel stationary box
A stunning mid 19th century coromandel stationary box, the sloping front opening to reveal a satinwood interior with four sections for stationary, envelopes, etc, at the top of the box is a removable tray which contains a calender and spaces for small objects, below this is a very unusual feature of this box, by pressing down the middle dummy screw at the top, a hidden box is released in which you can hide any secret documents, on one of the wings is a removable writing tablet, also in the box are two leather covered boxes, one for ink and the other with a striker and space for matches, at the very bottom is a pull out drawer for the storage of more paper, this has an engraved plaque giving the retailsers details, Leuchars, 33 & 39, Piccadilly, London and 2, Rue de la Paix, Paris.
